Want to add some historic flair to your holiday season? Spend a day at Mount Vernon – George Washington’s estate – to get a detailed look at how our first president celebrated the yuletide season. Enjoy Christmas at Mount Vernon, which lasts from November 24 to January 6!
Admire the stylish and gorgeous themed decorations. Watch a chocolate-making demonstration and indulge in yummy treats afterward. Revel in 18th-century dancing and merriment. Meet Aladdin the Camel, a tradition since 1787, when George Washington paid 18 shillings to bring a camel to Mount Vernon for his guests to enjoy.
Evenings are also a wonderful time to explore the estate. Join the staff for candlelight tours of the mansion, a dazzling display of holiday fireworks, and coffee and dessert with Martha Washington.
